The Rabot towers were the starting point of the research of the meaning and role of the corridor.

Study models 1:200

The towers exist of two separate volumes bordering each other with no further interaction.
This analogy can also be applied to the residents:
They lived next to each other with barely any communication or connection with one another.
The existing corridors are functional and have the minimum surface.
By connecting the two hallways of the two separate volumes, two apartment blocks become one. More apartment units are related to one long corridor which leads to a higher social surface (= space for social interaction) for the residents because more (incidental) meetings will take place.
The research investigates the light, experience, movement, usage and views in the corridor and adds spaces to the hallway so long durance is achieved.
The following pictures illustrate the end result of the corridor.
