Model in group work 1:20.

After a very extensive research in group about Le Cabanon of Le Corbusier, we each got to design our own Cabanon, with a given material and construction element.
On the same place of the original wooden Cabanon, a new one erected from natural stone. The construction element was the ground base of a building, the socket. Instead of using it as a base, the socket became a floor, made of natural stone. Because of the use of rough natural stone, the volume seems to come out of the rocks that are laying behind it. The material also makes clear that the volume is private and closed.
The natural stone regulates the temperature with its mass which comes in handy for the climate in the south of France where the Cabanon is located. The interior has level differences and is organized with movable walls.
On top of the brutal socket, a contrasting lighter steel structure is built. This is seen as the public part of the house. There is a built in furniture piece. The panels surrounding the terrace are for privacy and the protection of the sun.
The new Cabanon also uses the Modulor measures.
